11786 Ranasinghe, C.P. Two signed Letters from 1966 on a "The Institute Of Philosophical Research" letterhead. The original envelop is worn and has some tears and one letter has multiple creases on a corner -- otherwise all the material is in very good shape. C.P. Ranasinghe, a Buddhist Scholar and author, writes from Kelaniya, Ceylon to Mr. T. Pong in Seattle, WA to acknowledge Mr. Pong's order for 3 copies of "The Buddha's Explanation Of The Universe." He says the books are being shipped on the S.S. President Coolidge and will reach New York 14.10.66. He also includes six copies of his 4 page paper, "Buddhism and Marxism." In another letter one month later he asks for help raising $30,000 to fight Communism and includes copies of "Manifesto of The Institute Of Philosophical Research." -- $200

"Buddhist Scriptures Series No. 1 the Sutra of The Lord of Healing," published by The Society of Chinese Buddhists, first printing, May 1936. 6.5 x 9 inches with a 4 page foldout illustration, a reproduction of a woodcut illustrating the Sutra from a Chinese book printed in 1760. Fair to good. The cover is worn and chipped, the paper in the spine is mostly missing. The previous owner's name is inked on the front cover. The contents are very good.
